February 10th-16th

In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea
With a glory in his bosom that transfigures you and me
As he died to make men holy, let us live to make men free
As God is marching on.
Glory and hallelujah.

Well today I reached 16 months, and to celebrate we went to Modelo, which is basically a big farmers market. We cut our hair and bought watches, and printed off a big photo of my companion, my pench, and I. We then went to write to our families and I had a nice long chat with them about my future... not to get trunky or anything but I really need to evaluate what will be my future! We had two noche de hogares or family home evenings and they went really well. We play hot potato because it’s like the only game they know here... but it's still fun! We taught this guy and he was telling us that he had gone to a bunch of bible study classes and stuff, and he also had this 400-dollar bible on his table which was massive. Next to that bible was a smaller Bible opened up as if he was reading before, we got there. So, me and my companion thought we were going to have a pastor to teach. Well we started off and it turns out he knew nothing. We asked him to go to 1 Corinthians and he went to some other book in the old testament. but I learned a valuable lesson, whoever has two bibles does not read the Bible. I love you good night

Today was really good, every morning is really hard because its soooo hot, and I’m tired and it makes me more sleepy. Other than that, we had a very productive morning. we had a pre interview with Eduardo today and he is really ready! We have been preparing for his mom to give him permission to get baptized and she is super against the church. So, after about 6 months trying to get permission Eduardo tells us that his sister Michel, who was baptized a month ago, is his legal guardian and that means she can sign off on the permission. Later we had a lesson with Alejandro and we pretty much told him at this point because the knowledge he has, he’s damned. because it's true. Well crazy day- I love you good night

Well today we did not have many lessons, but it is okay. We found some new people and invited some to be baptized. I’m getting to that point here in the area where I’ve been here for 6 months and I know that I’m leaving so I’m just trying to stay focused on the work here. We have a multi zone tomorrow with someone from the quorum of the 70s. I love you good night

Well today was an excellent day, we had the multi zone and Elder Alonso was amazing! Honestly a man inspired of God. We talked a lot about the revelation personal and I loved it! Later we had good lessons and had one where the guy was either not very smart or really evil.... because he was denying God and stuff... We also taught someone whose name is Agripina, she lives with 4 alcoholics, her husband and her 3 sons, and the fourth is special ED. She just cries 90 percent of the lesson because she has no one to talk to, no one to interact with or eat a meal with, because her family is drunk from 8 in the morning until they are falling on their faces at 6 in the afternoon. It's so sad! We tried to teach her how the gospel and the atonement can bring joy to everyone. She was too overwhelmed to sit down and listen. We had a sport night at the church, and it was also really fun! I love you good night

Well I’m married to my calling on this [day of the lovers] Ha-ha well today had its highs and lows. We had a zone leader conference with Elder Alonso, and it went really well. I received many impressions of the spirit and we talked a lot about the progress of the mission. Afterwards we received a BIG milagro which was the signature of Eduardo so he can get baptized tomorrow because his mom needs to give her signature and not his sister. Well we got it! But later comes the hard part of the day which was Miguel had a bad experience in the church and says the people are really irreverent and, on their phones, and does not seem like a place of adoration. Now he’s asking for milagros or miracles in English to know if Joseph Smith was a prophet. I handed him a book of Mormon in Spanish and said translate this into reformed Egyptian. He said I know not this language. I said neither did Joseph Smith before he had the power of God. Is this not a milagro? Well he will be baptized with time. We then ate sushi with Michel an Eduardo. But it was cooked sushi, so it was so good! I love you good night

What a day! Today we went proselyting in the morning and I found two soles on the ground... score! Then we went around looking for people to teach. Well my companion was going around like a chicken with his head cut off. The first door I knocked on was a family of about 10 and we taught the 3 dads and invited them to the church and to be baptized and they excepted! Later we had the baptism for Eduardo at 7 but he called us at 3 and asked if we could do the service at 5... we went to the church and started cleaning frantically to get it ready. Later as we were finishing the water tank ran dry. So, we called the other wards’ missionaries to see if we could do the baptism with them. turns out their baptism was also at 5 and it was all set up and ready, but I tell you what, that we made so many phone calls to coordinate and rearrange all of it. God worked so many miracles in my life today, and I am so grateful for that. I love you good night

Well we find out the changes today. At church, we had 2 investigators who came, Jeremy was one and he will be baptized soon. The highlight of the day was the family home evening with the family Rojas. They had soda, fried chicken, and we watched the restoration. We took photos and it was really nice. Well with changes I got to pack because I’m more than sure I’m leaving the area. I love you good night

And it turns out that I’m leaving 1 de Mayo, I have 6 months here in the area and I have loved every minute of it. it has been my first area with hot water, without food poisoning, and amazing members who have helped me so much complete my purpose in my mission. Also, it’s a little weird but we are getting whitewashed. My companion is also leaving and will be released as a district leader. I kind of feel like we screwed up to get whitewashed as zone leaders but I’m sure it’s nothing.
