We and God Healed a Paralyzed Kid

Jan 1, 2018... 2019

Today was a really good day! We woke up and cleaned the room at 6 so we could have time to get haircuts, shower, and eat breakfast, before we went to Big Bagua. We played volleyball at the church, and it was so fun! Afterwards we played Uno for an hour! It’s the only game president allows us to play, so we play a ton! Then it started, the pain of satisfaction... we went to a restaurant and me and E. Huff went in 50-50 on a massive plate of chicken steak and a basket of fries, and literally it was a basket. It was about 56 soles which is a lot since we only get 100 for the month. I started to hit the wall when eating it, and E. Norman pressured me into keep going, and we finished the Entire. Family. Sized. Chicken. Meal. Oh, I hurt so bad afterwards! Well we got back to the room and I went to go get a water and I saw my cake, and I’m not, not going to eat a slice of cake when I see one! well we went and taught Tatiana and she seemed really into the scriptures, and joked about me taking her back to the states with me... typical. Haha but then Julia made us food, and as a missionary you can’t deny someone the opportunity to serve a missionary, so we ate it. My stomach hurts so bad! because we got to our pench afterwards to pick up our dinner, both were rice and chicken by the way. Well in other news, right now is cockroach season, so we have these massive amazon cockroaches flying into our room in the section where we do not have a roof and they are no joke 4 to 5 inches and they crawl so fast! I killed 10 today in the room and will probably have one in my bed... There are a lot of parties down here for the new year! They make these dolls out of their clothes and stuff them with hay, then burn them or explode them at midnight! It’s pretty cool until they catch a hill on fire. Also, my pench thinks Americans think Peruvians are Indians, and I was like oh yeah you guys are definitely Indians. So, now she firmly believes it. Goodnight I love you!

I did not type the last two days because I got really sick, my thought is it was from a mosquito, but honestly it was probably from the quart of ice cream, the cake, and family sized chicken meal... well I’m all healed now! Today was great! we took a moto taxi which is a motorcycle but has a 3-wide seat for the back half and 3 wheels, we talked to him and found out about the 3 moto gangs in Bauga. We asked him to take us somewhere and he got us really close and dropped us off and was like yeah, I cannot cross that street... welp thanks for the ride! I taught a lot in the lessons today and contacted 5 people all on my own! I cannot wrte a lot tonight because I need to go to bed, spent a lot of my time tonight teaching my companion multiplication facts. He is 22 and does not know them, I told him imagine if everyone around you communicated in endless multiplication facts that’s how it is for me right now, kinda help him sympathize with my occasional daily struggle to communicate, because sometimes he has a hard time being patient and understanding my incapacity. Because for him its easy, he says stuff like, well just memorize it, or just say what you feel. if only it was that easy! But do not be fooled, I have a great companion and we had a lot of fun today and a lot of success with work! We contacted this guy and guess what... he can actually read! Right now we have 7 investigators who cannot read and it’s so difficult! But he can read, and asked questions during the lesson, which most people hear just say “clero” 150 times which in English is clear. He asked if he can come to church with us! I’m so happy to teach him! I love you, goodnight!

Today started off on a scare... so I took the communal mirror off the wall to brush my teeth in the other room, and when I went to put it back up on the wall a spider crawled out from behind it and crawled over my hand. Now I’m not scared of spiders, ask my parents, but when the spider is bigger than my hand that’s when it freaks me out! I tried taking a photo of it and I’ll send it to my mom but it never does it justice. Honestly I felt one leg touching my thumb while the other was on my pinky! Oh my I have been so paranoid. But it gets worse, what’s worse than finding a tarantula in your room.... losing it! Yeah I have no idea where it’s at! But on a different note, we found 5 new investigators today and they can mostly read! I contacted more people, and I started a new thing, in the field I get random weird cravings so I will write them down and share them with you! Today it was Un'crustables, Helvatia, and taco salads! Today we shared a lesson with an old woman, we used photos for her because she can’t see well, the photo was an Asian family praying. When we asked her what she saw in the photo she said, those are my rice pickers! I lost it! I was like, um it’s also a family... I love you guys, say your prayers and call your family I love you!

We had some people show up for church and we had some important investigators not show up, you win some you lose some! Dinner tonight was the best yet! Teriyaki chicken, boiled potatoes, and rice pudding! Awe soooooo good! We have 3 new people with baptism dates! Today we performed a milagro, a kid was playing in the park and he fell, and his top half fell off the curb and his bottom half was still on the curb. Here the curbs are quite tall, I don’t know why, but anyway he hurt his back and could not move his legs, my thought was paralyzed. Well we gave him a priesthood blessing and shortly after he was able to wiggle his toes and by the time we left could move his feet! Ah it was a great feeling and truly an act of God! I don’t have much time tonight so goodnight and I love you!
