January 14-20th
Jan 14, 2019
Today we stayed in the good Bagua and played soccer and butts up
with E. Walker and Salles! Oh it was so much fun! I kicked the soccer ball over
the church and the houses and we had to go find it, but we got it back! Afterwards
we came to our room to play Uno, and we ate lunch with the mother of Moses. She
is such a great cook, not as good as dad though! Haha oh I miss steak! My
missionary package is the website for the easy gifts for missionaries I just
called E. Walker and he said his mom will send him one every now and then. After
the confusion with the last one I thought you would like this mom. Well after
lunch we went shopping for sticky notes so I can mark my scriptures, and then
we emailed our awesome fan clubs! We then studied language buuuut it ended up
as we both fell asleep. Oops! We got up and we went and contacted new
investigators, that was alright, I didn´t have the don de languas or gift of
tongues in English, so I kind of just sat around really confused. But today was
awesome and I am having so much fun here! I love this work and this gospel, the
people, and the culture! I love you so much! Sleep tight and say your prayers.

Today I will be better than I was yesterday...
Today was a good day! We taught our three investigators with
baptism dates and taught about 8 other lessons that went... all right. well we
went to the store an I got some Oreos because it was one of those days where I
just wanted some Oreos. haha well I got some milk too of course and got some
stuff for my companion, the we went to the room to feast! and we asked our
neighbor for some hot water for some hot chocolate and she brought us water, Jell-O,
rolls, and some crackers on a plate! ON A PLATE!! well that made my day! and
our pench has this little fluffy puppy we named Peligroso, which means
dangerous. It’s definitely not its name and it is everything but dangerous! Haha
it bites a lot but it’s a puppy so it’s more cute than painful. Well today Peligroso
got hit by a moto taxi... died instantly. They threw the body down dead dog
hill, you can only imagine how it got that name. Well that was probably the low
point of my day.

Today I want to be better than I was yesterday.
Today we had a district reunion, it’s when all the missionaries
meet up from the two Baguas and we talk about struggling investigators and how
to work with them better, and how to better our teaching! I got a Christmas
card from the Jordans and it’s so nice to have familiar faces hanging up on my
wall! We had awesome lessons and it’s looking like all three of our
investigators will be ready for baptism for the 26th! This makes my heart happy
as these people have had to make life changes, Christina broke up with her
boyfriend so she could be spiritually ready, Dora cannot read so it has been a
challenge getting her ready and giving up coffee was a difficulty, and Jacory
has learned to try really hard! Tomorrow I have an interchange with E. Wilson, he’s
the other zone leader and a great missionary! He is far beyond fluent in
Spanish as he was an Assistant to the President for over a year! Oh he knows
his stuff! another hot day here in Bagua Chica, and today I was a little better
than I was yesterday! I love you and goodnight!

Today I will be better than I was yesterday.
Tonight I have no time as I have been getting to know E. Wilson,
the piece of information I will share with you tonight... he said light is
attracted to light, and darkness is attracted to darkness. Light never seeks
out darkness but darkness only wants to envelop light. He said when the time
comes to find my spouse, I will never find a woman who has a stronger testimony
than me, nor will she or I ever settle for someone who has a weaker testimony
unless the desire of the imperfect heart takes over and you let the darkness
dim your light. Because only the light knows how hard it has worked to fight
off the darkness from continually trying to take over and dim it. When two
lights are together they assist and help each other become more powerful. The
darkness will desire the light but it will never be able to have it, like a cat
chasing a Lazar pointer. The most perfect man, or woman out there has exactly
equal to all of your strengths but our strengths are of different categories. And
when we are truly attracted to someone it is because we see a light in them
that we don’t have and we desire it. He was telling me about a story of his
sister dating a total loser and how he was not helping her testimony grow. I don’t
know it was some super long confusing thing he was telling me! Haha just
remember to always surround yourself with light so you can help and assist each
other.

Today I will be better than I was yesterday
Well today was good we ended our inner change and we went
teaching, we had many lessons today that went really well! We had a reference
and that is when a church member says they think someone would be interested in
hearing us so we went and talked to her, well today was the second visit of
contacting her and she actually read the little pass out pamphlet and knew
about what we were about to teach her. The first proactive investigator we have
taught in the area! I actually did the tommy boy reaction where he starts
apologizing before he registers that the person will buy the product. I was
like oh, well next time we visit you, you need to read it.. wait, what!_ you
read it_! and she was like yeah but I have some questions. Me and my companion
just looked at each other like deer in headlights! Haha good times! I also
contacted twice as many people today than I did yesterday with E. Wilson. The
lessons we taught together were so powerful, we would walk out of the lessons
and just feel like a God! like boom we just dropped some fat doctrine on them! I
do not have any more time so I’m going to head to bed. I love you
goodnight!

Today I will be better than I was yesterday
Today started off on the wrong foot, I was super tired and did
not have the gift of tongues, and I was just kind of miserable. Well I started
talking to people right after I had said a prayer and I was able to gradually
get it back! I was able to contact 3 more people today than I did yesterday,
and I met a girl, and you will never be able to guess how many kids she has...
16 kids!!! Ok well you may have guessed that after probably 16 guesses but
anyway it’s a ton! We have an investigator who today said she did not have a
testimony of the Book of Mormon, which is not a deal breaker for baptism but my
companion said he will not let her get baptized until she has one. Which I do
not fully agree with because it’s a little by little doctrine we teach, and if
she does not have one now, she can grow one over time, but I think he was just
more upset in the moment so we will see how it plays out! I love you goodnight!

Today I will be better than I was yesterday.
Well today was a heart wrenching day, we got to church and 2 of
our 3 investigators came to church, Christina was the one that did not attend. So,
we called and called, went to her house and she was not there, she called and
said she got an answer from God about the Book of Mormon but would not say what
it was on the phone. From her not coming to church or showing up for the lesson
I could only guess it was a no. We talked to her and she said she has a
testimony and is excited to be baptized! We then went and visited Jacordy and
she said she did not want to get baptized this Saturday because her dad said
something... I don’t know it was hard to understand, well we left that lesson
heart broken. We went back to visit her later tonight and long story short she
is excited to be getting baptized! ugh heart wrenching day. I will also be
baptizing all 3. Dora was adorable again today like always, she’s the cutest
little 65-year-old! Well we had some good lessons but other than that nothing
too exciting! I love you goodnight!
