8 Months Baby!!
Jun 3, 2019
Today was a good
day we went to Lambayeque and had a zone meeting, and that was really good. This
month’s theme is por que, para que or why and for what. That many times as
missionaries we do not help people understand why it is important to obey the
commandments of God, and also for what, what do they receive from obeying the
commandments. Because about 90 percent of arguments and contentions can be
solved for just finding out the reason of something, and it is a little more
than just asking why but putting honest effort into a well-formed question to
find out the real reason. It is kind of hard to write it well in English, but I
hope you understand what I’m trying to say. I love you good night

Today we had some
great service this morning, we moved dirt up this mountain, and it was really
nice! Afterwards we planned our week and I ate yogurt with bananas, it was
amazing! we the had two people who are preparing to get baptized this week fall
through. The wife of Guillermo said she does not want to get married, and the
dad of Irene said she cannot change her religion. So, that was rough, but we
kept up our excitement! We found a bunch of really good people! THE FUTURE IS
BRIGHT! I love you good night

Today was a
wonderful day! We went to Motupe for another district meeting and that was fun!
We played a game with the lessons we have memorized and yeah, I got last, but
it is all right. Afterwards we had the interview for Jesus and he passed so we
will have his baptism on Friday! We also passed by for a pair that we have been
teaching and for the first time in my mission an investigator cooked us food!!!
They brought out like the smallest burrito but really it was just 100 percent
corn. That was it. It was sad but the offer warmed my heart! I tried not eating
it all in one bite so I would not be rude. but I really do love them for the
best meal of my mission! I love you and good night

Today we ended an
interchange and yeah, I will not say much about that.... but we came back to Jayanca
and had some poderoso (poweful) lessons, afterwards we swung by the house of Jesus
to see if he was ready for his baptism, his sister came to the door and said he
did not want to talk to us and he was headed to Chiclayo to see his daughter. We
were full of emotions. we then sent his sister to him with a note that said, “this
baptism is a promise with God, do not forget how hard you worked for this
blessing” and we went to his baptism filled with faith. He showed up and we had
an amazing baptism! Also, Frank and Araceli went to the baptism! Never have I
ever seen or had hopes of any investigator assist a baptism service! When Jesus
showed up, Frank said he is my cousin! Frank and Jesus are cousins. I love you
and good night

Today was a great
day, we had some good lessons this morning and I am working on opening up to
people, I do not know why but I have been super quiet here on my mission, I
think its a mixture of the language, not wanting to say something incorrect, or
make a joke that does not translate well, but I’m working on it! We then went
and visited Frank and Araceli, they took us on a tour of their farm, and it is
so cute! They said they work on the farm all day and every morning they wake up
at 5 to study the book of Mormon. They are so ready! It breaks my heart that I
will be gone for their baptism... because of transfers ...but I’m happy to be
with them through this experience. I love you good night

Just as I put
this date down, I realized I have been graduated from high school for over a
year! I really lost track of time down here in Peru. Ha-ha well today was a
good day, we had 4 people visit church today, Frank and Araceli were 2 of those
4! Winning and after church we had a church leader training by President
Balderrama. I’m pretty sure he burned them, chastised because we had a leader
join us for a lesson and the leader only talked the investigator out of
baptism... I won’t go into much detail, but it was bad. We then taught a STRONG
catholic family and by the end of the lesson they agreed the catholic church
was created by man and is not the church Christ established in his earthly
ministry... and they had photos of the Pope and saints on their walls! I love
you good night

Today I reached 8
months, and it has been flying by! We went to Olmos and looked at a place
called Pixi Farm... roughly translated. It had peacocks, alligators, a 400-year-old
turtle, and Koi fish that were 6 feet long! It was fun and I took a lot of
photos. We then came back to the room to wash clothes and talk to our families,
we then had all our visits fall through, but we talked to everyone in the
streets and we found 4 new people and invited them all to baptism and to the church,
so we had an amazing day. But when we were walking back to the room, we were a
little late, so we walked fast in the pitch black and there was a big ole rock
in the road and I kicked that thing with the strength of 2000 stripling warriors,
and I let out a deathly war cry shriek. This was just the beginning of it all I
tried walking it off, then limping, crawling, then crying... naw! I just hit my
shin really hard and it hurt so bad. I love you good night

Well we went to Lambayeque
to have a multi zone, so I did not have my typing thing, and these other few
days I lost track of time and had no time to write in the nights, but I’m alive
and we are doing good here in Jayanca. I’m a little: area trunky: trunky is the
word used for like the seniors at the end of the school year. Most of the time
we are in an area for no more than 4 changes and I have 3.5 here in Jayanca due
to the change emergency. So yeah, it’s safe to say I’ll be going, but I’m
leaving Elder Tituana with people with a date for baptism. I have been so busy
leading the area this week because we have had 3 changes with other elders this
week and I have been stuck here to lead the area. I love you and sorry for not
writing more this week, I’ll do better the next! GOOD NIGHT.

I beat the odds... the
night of changes and we got the call that Elder Tituana is leaving to Bagua
Grande to be a leader of the zone and I’m staying here in Jayanca for my 5th
combio, I will be here for 7 months by the end of this change. I’m so full of
different emotions. I wanted to leave but I wanted to stay. All the leaders
here gave me going away gifts and now I must tell them that I will be staying
here for another 6 weeks... Elder Tituana is so mad to leave because we have 4
people really ready for baptism! Noelia who made many comments about my eyes
the other day, asked to have an interview with the president of the branch. She
talked to him about the rules on the clothes for the church, the sabbath day,
and asked how she can be a member of this church... WOW! So, I’m so happy to be
a part of that and most of all, I’m going to miss Elder Tituana so much he is
Lo Maximo!

Well today was P-day
and we woke up at 4 to pick up my companion and another Elder. We went back to the
room and went back to bed, we then had the whole p-day with them and it was
awesome! He invested in a pizza oven and we baked cookies and watched 17 miracles,
awe I loved it! I love you good night
I have had no time to
write this week because I’m leading the area, which means I’m teaching my
companion all the streets, members, filing paperwork, updating the map, and the
filter system. So, it has been quite stressful and I’m not super mentally
prepared for it all. Things are looking good we have 3 who have a baptism date
and Frank and Araceli do not want to get married at the moment so that kind of
put me through a loop. We woke up early today and went for a run and also went
and cleaned up in front of an investigator’s house to help win the trust of the
mom so she will give permission that her daughter can get baptized. and today
she told me to marry her.... RIP at me.

Today was a good day, all
our visits fell through, so we were walking around Jayanca for 3 hours trying
to talk to anybody we could... that I have not already talked to ...so that was
not a lot of fun. But we did have a visit with Diego, and he is pure GOLD. He
has read so much of the book of Mormon and has a testimony and comes to English
connect. He said he’s coming to church tomorrow and is really excited!
